Olabode Ariyo

Graduate Engineer

Olabode Ariyo studied combined Engineering (Now Electro-Mechanical Engineering) at Coventry University and graduated in 2019. Since graduating they have been working as (job title/description). Of their time at Coventry University they said;I've had an amazing experience studying at Coventry University, from joining the institution in my first year back in 2015, to becoming a student rep and a Faculty councillor. During my second year I received enormous support from my tutors and the employability team, helping me securing a placement. After securing a placement there came challenges on my visa and I was really happy at how the University dealt with it in helping me acquire a new CAS quickly to enable me put through my VISA application and reduce the delay that could have extended my start day at work. I believe Coventry university has really helped me achieved my goals as an academic student, also securing both the CAREER DEVELOPMENT award(2018) and STUDENT of THE YEAR award(2019) and going on to secure a graduate Job at one of the top engineering companies in the UK and globally (Siemens). Since graduating, Before graduating from Coventry University in July 2019, I had been offered a graduate Job at Siemens Mobility during my final year and after completion of my placement year. This motivated me highly to go on and finish with outstanding results and I am glad I was able to finish with a First Class. I Joined Siemens 2 weeks after my graduation and its since been an incredible experience. I also achieved MIET with the IET upon completion of my final year and currently working on achieving Engtech/IEng. What I really enjoyed about studying at Coventry university was the support from academic staffs, module structure and relationships I was able to form while at school. Being a member of the rep union and university council helped enhance my key skills such as public speaking, leadership , human relation, communication and interpersonal skills. These were very key skills I believe you need to have to be successful at any given organisation and these really helped me a lot during my placement year and currently as a graduate engineer. Whilst I was so keen to get some international experience in my professional career as an international student, one of the first steps towards this was having a standout CV. With the help of the Careers and employability team I was able to develop on outstanding CV which I believe also helped with where I am today.
