The learning experience was great, and I was able to acquire soft skills relevant to my profession. Being part of the student community as a senior course rep offered me a first hand experience on effective leadership Since graduating from Coventry University, I have been on a growth part towards professional growth. Through the training and preparatory sessions I had with the careers team, I have been able to secure a full time position with my home government's oil company and on my way to building a successful career in the oil, gas and energy sector. I am passionate about encouraging more girls in STEM and volunteer as a role model for the Society of Women Engineer's Middle School Program for girls. I participated in the annual conference held at Anaheim Convention Centre, California. USA in November 2019 and will also be virtually attending the conference this year. I am collaborating with other friends in my local community to begin a sensitization program amongst high school girls aimed at breaking stereotypes and encouraging them to consider STEM courses. During my time at Coventry University, the structure of the academic curriculum combining classroom and practical learning made it easier for me to be updated with industry standards. The use of subject matter experts from outside the academia as well as the field trip i had to Norway exposed me to relevant and current practices in the oil and gas industry. Through collaboration with other course mates in assignments and tasks, my interpersonal relationship as well as communication skills were greatly improved. The effective supervision and support I received from my thesis supervisor enabled me come up with an outstanding thesis which was selected for presentation at the SPE Europe Region, Student Technical Paper Contest which was held in Croatia in March, 2020. I had a great experience while studying at Coventry, the city and its culture was amazing and I made great friends from other continents. I am better at almost everything I do and my perception of excellence was positively affected, I loved the opportunity of interacting with school heads on best ways of improving student experience. I loved the regular MEQs which gives students opportunity to suggest on ways of improving course delivery".
