Collins Okonkwo
Lecturer
Collins Okonkwo studied International Relations at Coventry University and graduated in 2014. Since graduating they have been working as Lecturer. Of their time at Coventry University they said; Going to Coventry gave me a global perspective about human diversity. I met people from all over the world and built connections that I still enjoy to this day. I had the opportunity to participate in the Global Leadership Programer (GLP) and my students benefit from those global experiences. I’m so proud of my Coventry identity to the point of obsession. Everyone that knows me is aware of the fact that I went to Coventry University. Since I graduated from Coventry, I’ve had 6 years experience teaching Political Science at Igbinedion University, Okada Nigeria. I’ve taught more than 2000 students and I always bring the global experience I got at Coventry i to my classroom. Coventry University took me all over the World. Through the Global Leaders Programmer, I visited 4 countries in Europe, The Gambia in West Africa and the United States. I consider myself a global citizen because of Coventry University. While at Coventry, I got the opportunity, through the GLP to conduct a research project for the St. Peter Centre. This opportunity gave me a practical research experience to complete my PhD and also help my students in their research. I also had very good tutors that were leaders in their field. For example, Professor Bruce Baker has been a role model and I want to be like him.
