Jessy Oghenekevwe Jessa studied MSc Sustainability & Environmental Management at Coventry University and graduated in 2019. Since graduating they have been working as an Entrepreneur. Of their time at Coventry University they said; “ While studying at Coventry University, I acquired both academic and life skills. My course was centred on equipping students with the skills to effectively manage the environment, and also ensure sustainability. Sustainability in this sense refers to meeting the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It focuses on productivity and sustenance in the environmental, social, and economic aspects of life. And this was reflected in modules such as Stakeholder Engagement & Communication; Climate & Carbon; Environmental Management & Auditing; Sustainable Energy; and Chartered Management Institute. I was provided with a hands-on learning experience, including seminars, group activities, and field trips. I also had the opportunity to develop my research skills during the Research Project Module, and this contributed in large part to the success of my research project (masters thesis). At Coventry University, most of my tutors provided help when needed and I still have close connections with two of them. Apart from the academic skills I acquired at Coventry University, I also acquired life skills. I gained international experience by going on international fieldtrips to two countries (Germany and Brazil) - courtesy of the Global Leaders Program. I also improved my french by taking a French course. Furthermore, I was a member of the university's Sustainability Team, and the Course Quality Enhancement and Team. This improved my interpersonal skills because I got the opportunity to interact with different students in the university. Indeed, Coventry University has provided a solid foundation for me to excel in my career and I will forever cherish my experience at the university. Since graduating, I am a member of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and the Institute for Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). I am currently managing my family's business but I aim to pursue a career in academia or industry. Since graduating from Coventry, I have been in search of PhD opportunities as I believe it is a starting point to a career in academia".
