Mahfouz Shehu
Full Stack developer
Mahfouz Shehu studied Computer Science at Coventry University and graduated in 2018. Since graduating they have been working as a full stack developer. Of their time at Coventry University they said;It was a very interesting part of my life. Not only did I develop academically, but I got to meet people from all over the world, formed unique bonds and had amazing experiences. I found the EC futures department to be one of the most beneficial facets of the university. I credit alot of my professional development to them. Since graduating, I did a placement at Phillips66 UK as an IT analyst. I've worked as a web developer at image+ limited in Coventry. I'm about to start a new job in November, as a full stack developer at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge. I've also worked as the Chief Technology Officer of a school management startup, originally formed in Sweden but built as an African solution. I've also worked as a Lead IT trainer with Coders4Africa, under a Government initiative in Nigeria, which was aimed at training locals in web design, IT literacy and mobile app development for children. I was selected as a winner of the Covid19 global Hackathon on Dev.to During my final year I won the IT talent award in November of 2017, organised by the EC futures and a Solihull based company called e-tech. I found that alot of what I learned in the modules I took were directly applicable when I started working in the industry. The EC futures ran several workshops that helped me become more competitive when applying for jobs. They also created alot of opportunities for me to meet companies. I met alot of people from different parts of the world and that helped me improve as a person.
