Esther’s background is in theatre, community and engagement. She originally trained as a drama facilitator and worked for a number of years with marginalised communities, teaching classes for underprivileged children, as well as working to make theatre more accessible to children with additional needs and disabilities. Esther helped to develop a youth theatre in one of the most deprived boroughs in London, providing free and subsidised classes weekly to over 200 young people.
Esther moved on to working for a drama school and spearheaded their engagement strategies to encourage underrepresented communities to audition for the school and engage with the arts on a wider scale. Esther also led her own performance classes at a number of theatres and schools and wrote original scripts inspired by the students she worked with.
Esther joined Big Ideas in 2018 and particularly enjoys getting to work with so many diverse, inspiring groups around the UK.
