Nigeria60 Alumni Awards Public Voting

The Nigeria60 Alumni Awards public voting is now live!

Coventry University’s International Office is working in partnership with Big Ideas’ Nigeria60 programme to share 60 alumni stories celebrating the strong connections between the University and Nigerian diaspora students.

These awards will celebrate and showcase Nigerian students, and British students of Nigerian heritage who have made an outstanding impact in their professional or personal journeys.

The public may vote for their favourite entry from each of the three award categories;

  • One To Watch Award
    A recent graduate or early career professional who is using the skills and experience gained during their time at university to establish themselves their chosen career or field.
  • Rising Star Award
    For mid-career alumni. Someone who has made begun to make an impactful contributions to their in their chosen field or career. They have begun to make a name for themselves but will still have much more to show for their career
  • Lifetime Achievement Award 
    Alumna who have excelled professionally and made a great positive impact on their chosen field and society as a whole

To cast your vote, click on the profile you want to vote for and read the entrant’s statement. Then mark the submission out of five for the following three categories;

Career Impact: Have they positively impacted their specific field or sector?
Wider Impact: Have they made a difference and inspired others?
University Experience: How did their time at Coventry University help their success?

You may only vote for one entry per category.

This competition will close on the 18 October. If you would like to enter you are still able to but you are advised to get your application in sooner than the closing date as public voting to shortlist applications will run from 12-17 October.
After public voting closes, winners will be selected from the shortlist by an esteemed panel of judges from 18-21 October.
All alumni who share their story will be invited to attend a special event on 22 October 2020.

Aghogho Mike Erharhaghen studied Mechanical Engineering at Coventry University and graduated in (year). Since graduating they have been working in Mechanical Engineer/Pipeline Welding . Of their time at Coventry University they said; As a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student at Coventry University with an interest in field of Mechanical Engineering, I have learnt the principles of mechanical engineering those applicable to most machines, tools and processes which naturally widens my scope of learning and research. This has motivated me to explore the option of pursuing master’s course in Mechanical Engineering from this prestigious University, which I believe will not only supplement my knowledge that I have acquired but also provide me with the best possible platform for the attainment of my future goals and career.
