Paint a stone for our new national Memorial

Foundation Stones invites everyone to paint a stone that will become part of the UK Holocaust and Learning Centre in London when it is built.

Inspired by the Jewish custom of placing a pebble on headstones when visiting a grave,
Foundation Stones remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust and all other victims of Nazi persecution. You can also choose to dedicate your stone to those murdered in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

Make your promise to remember the past and to build a future free from hate by taking part in Foundation Stones.

Explore the immersive Foundation Stones Map

Follow a trail of hand painted stones across the UK immersing yourself in powerful moving stories of survivors, liberators and campaigners that connect us to the history of the Holocaust.

The Foundation Stones Map allows you to explore the stones in 3D, as if you were holding them in the palm of your hand, to see them in the locations across the country they reflect and to listen to the stories behind them narrated by award winning actor Juliet Stevenson.

Foundation Stones is open to participation until Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January 2023. For more information email foundationstones@big-ideas.org
