In October 2020, Coventry University launched a new Africa Centre. The launch celebrated its Nigerian students and alumni on the occasion of their country’s 60th independence.
Coventry University’s International Office worked in partnership with Big Ideas’ Nigeria60 programme to share 60 alumni stories celebrating the strong connections between the University and Nigerian diaspora students.
From the top 60 alumni, special awards were presented to participants who have made an outstanding impact in their professional or personal journeys.
The Competition
Coventry University alumni were required to nominate themselves for a Nigeria60 Alumni Award in one of three categories:
- One to Watch; a recent graduate at the start of a promising career
- Rising Star; an early to mid career graduate who has just begun to make an impact on their field and within their wider community
- Lifetime Achievement; an alumni who has made a considerable and lasting positive contribution to their field and to the wider community
About the Africa Centre:
The Coventry University Africa Centre is a platform for scholarship, community and leadership, strengthening collaborations with Africa Universities, civil society and other relevant public and corporate institutions, leading discussions and interfacing with African education and culture.
